Celeb Styles: A full skirt and a cinched waist creates an hourglass figure.

Everyone wants a sexy hourglass figure and a great way to create the illusion of one is with a full-skirted dress. Wear them to the knee (or a bit longer) so they aren’t too Cinderella or too Minnie Mouse.

These dresses are also perfect for wide hips. It may seem counterintuitive, but they will hide your hips and draw attention to your upper half with their high waists.

Update- Full skirts at the Golden Globes, 2006 (Reese Witherspoon and Mary Louise Parker):

Above, Reese Witherspoon (in Monique Lhuillier), Scarlett Johansson (in Oscar de la Renta), Carmen Electra (in Tufi Duek) and Judy Greer (in Nicole Miller).

Below are some great designer dresses for each celeb look, don’t be afraid to add your own belt or ribbon around the waist.

To get the shape and frayed edge of Scarlett Johansson’s look, try the David Meister dress ($199, reg. $335, amazon.com), above left. Or, if you prefer the metallic look, this Cynthia Steffe Pintuck Dress ($330, amazon.com), above right, is a great choice.

For Reese Witherspoon, Judy Greer’s and Carmen Electra’s flattering deep v-neck looks try one of these gorgeous dresses:

The Alberta Ferretti silk dress ($1695).

The Cynthia Steffe halter dress ($157.90, reg.$395, amazon.com)

The Kay Unger Pleated Dress ($309, reg.$515)

The Anne Klein taffeta dress ($107.90, reg. $180).
