Celeb Styles: Dark florals make an appearance this winter.

A black flower? Some think that they represent death, but others take a more positive view- looking at them as symbols of rebirth and a death of old habits. As it is the season for resolutions, I prefer the later view- especially since these light and pretty dresses have nothing sinister about them.

Here are some examples of how celebs are wearing the trend:

Black and White Flowers

Debra Messing's dress at the 2006 Golden Globes is very similar to this Cacheral floral dress, sold through Net a Porter.

Kate Bosworth's silky black and white floral dress by Chloe is simple yet unique. You can get the same Chloe bell sleeve dress worn by Kate at Net a Porter (look under "New Season"), add a black ribbon belt for a more shapely look.

Lace Flowers

Above, Taryn Manning is wearing a Diane von Furstenburg lace dress. You can get a similar Diane von Furstenburg pomdor lace dress at Net a Porter.

Hippy-Inspired Flowers

Above, Kirsten Dunst wears a light hippy-inspired dress by Burberry Prorsum. You can get a similar Burberry Prorsum floral print smock dress at Net a Porter (now on sale!).

Black Brocade Flowers

Reese Witherspoon is wearing three great looks in one dress- black, brocade and dark florals! I love this look, and you can also get a black dress with a floral pattern, with this Nicole Miller jacquard strapless dress (51% off at Amazon).

Ladylike Flowers

Rachel Bilson’s ladylike look by Derek Lam is sexy yet sophisticated. This dress shape is a classic, get the Jill Stuart grey floral dress (46% off at Amazon!) for a similar look.

One more great dark floral dress:

The Jill Stuart black floral 'Ballerina' dress has a tiered skirt and sashed waist for a very now look, and it is 46% off at Amazon!
